This educational presentation will discuss Medical Aid In Dying (MAID) which is a legal option in CA for terminally ill individuals to ingest medication that will end their life. We will discuss the brief history of the law, requirements for obtaining a prescription, process of ingestion, and barriers to accessing the medication. We will also discuss the process of Voluntarily Stopping Eating and Drinking (VSED), its requirements, time until death, common symptoms and how to manage them.
